I’m always sad when the weekend is over, but more so this week! We had a great visit from the Dursos! Grandma and Grandpa, uncle Jeff, aunt Julie, uncle Tim and cousins Carson and Cole.
Friday night I cooked dinner and we hung out at home. It was a lot of work to get the house ready, but it was so fun to have everyone here. Saturday we went to Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells. Mama went on two roller coasters, two more than I expected to go on! Dada and uncle Jeff went on the Hades roller coaster, which was way too intense for most of the group because they were the only ones. The kids loved the water park. Since it was a water park, I didn’t take many pictures.
I did get a few when we were resting and getting ready to go home. Allie’s favorite part of the water park was the wave pool. Peyton didn’t like the wave pool at all. He surprised me because as I was taking him back to our meeting area from the wave pool, he stopped by a splash zone area where, among other things, there was one of those 500 gallon buckets that dumps out. He kept getting closer and closer, though not directly under. He loved it!
It was crowded, of course. With the kids we couldn’t go on the water slides, but we didn’t want to anyway because they were so long!
I’m glad we went, but I doubt we will take the kids to a water park for a while until they are a bit older.
At the end of the day we were all happy to be going home. Allie wanted to go into the candy store. She saw a big candy store in the Dells book. The store with candy in it worked just as well and Allie chose a $4 lollipop and only ate about half, but it made her happy! I took Allie on one of the kiddie rides when we were waiting for other people in our group to get done with a roller coaster and it might have been my favorite part of the day. I guess I’m getting old! It was one of those days of great memories. Well, the whole weekend was.
Sunday we wanted to take it easier. Luckily it wasn’t as hot. We first showed off a bit of downtown and played tourist in the Capitol, which we always enjoy!
We went up to the observation deck, something we had never done!
We enjoyed the great views in all directions! Looking down Wisconsin Avenue toward Lake Mendota.
This is looking down West Washington Avenue.
My beautiful Allie.
MLK looking toward Lake Monona.
And East Washington Avenue.
We got some nice family pictures too, though without Peyton. He stayed downstairs with Grandma.
I’ve gone in the Capitol many times, but I still love looking at it and taking pictures!
We also got some pictures outside with Grandma and Grandpa and cousins!
(I’m still really floored when I see how grown up Peyton looks with such short hair!)
After the Capitol we all went to the movies. The boys all saw Ant-Man while Mama and Grandma took both kids to see Minions. It was Peyton’s first movie and we survived… but I’m in no rush to do that again! After the movies we went to dinner downtown at Paisan’s, a great Italian restaurant. Then we came back to the house to hang out and drink some more wine and play games. They stayed late and we all had a great time. We were all sad when everyone had to go! They left this morning and now we’re at home getting some relaxation. We stayed up later each night this weekend, including Peyton. Allie fell asleep on the couch last night, but Peyton didn’t. Peyton is now taking his first decent nap since Friday! Hopefully he’ll get caught up on sleep. Allie is relaxing in her jammies and Mama and Dada are catching up on chores. I did all the laundry late last week and now I have to do it again!
